The darker days of winter can take away some of your sparkle. Learn which herbs and foods can nurture a sunshiny feeling when the temperatures dip and the skies are gray. You will learn creative ways to use herbs in food and remedies including lemon balm, St. John's wort, holy basil, and motherwort. Recipes, demonstrations, and discussion are included.

This class is filled with creative ways to use botanical medicine, breath and ritual to bring the body back into balance, let go of tension and receive the nourishment of deep rest.

From cough syrups to pine pollen pancakes and spruce tip salt, discover how common conifers can delight your taste buds and enhance your apothecary. We'll craft a few remedies together; all materials provided.

Join us for a live walk through Central Park (weather permitting), as we meet some of the native plants that herbalists have traditionally used for food and medicine.
We will discuss the apothecary botanicals that grow in the wilds of our urban parks and landscapes, spending time looking at the early seasonal changes, learning plant id and the medicinal benefits of our weedy friends.
We will meet on Central Park West near the B/C trains to 96th Street; exact information will be sent after registration.

Fire Cider Workshop (Benefit)
Fire cider is one of the most important kitchen folk remedies you can make for your family and this special one hour class will give you all the tips you need to make it your own!
This is a special class to benefit those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Many herbalists live and work in Asheville and have had their homes and so much more destroyed by the effects.

Get the most out of the season's foraged fair as you are introduced to nature's best medicines while learning how to create two different remedies to bring home. This class will incorporate a walk through NYBG's Native Plant Garden for inspiration.

Herbalists traditionally use the transition between seasons as a time to cleanse the digestive system. One of the best times of years to do this is during the abundance of Spring. Discover how herbs such as cleavers, burdock, dandelion, mugwort, and more have been used by herbalists to dispel the digestive cobwebs of winter. Learn what herbal alteratives, bitters, and lymphatics are, and which ones will best serve you as you “spring clean” your digestion.

Medicinal plants have been used for aperitifs and digestifs for centuries, and learning how to infuse different botanical flavors including aromatics and bitters into our drinks can add new tastes, complexity and health benefits that may be as unfamiliar as some of the plants themselves. This class will introduce you to the wonders of using leaves, flowers, barks, seeds and berries into a range of bases, for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Recipes And tastings included and two wild remedies will be made in class for your at home use.
